Dottie Mckenzie Has been in the floral business for 26 years. She began, when her mother gave her $200 and sent her to the Wishing Well for silk flowers when she was only 16 years old.
Dottie began making flower arrangements for the Apple Hill Harvest Festival, held every year in Camino California, turning the $200 dollars into $1,000 by the end of the weekend. Her boyfriend at the time, who is now her husband, would drive her all over the Bay Area gathering flowers to sell at local flea markets, County Fairs, and anywhere she could create a magical environment. When she became pregnant with her son 22 years ago, her parents purchased an established Flower Shop for her. She worked that store for 15 years in Pollock Pines and raised two children.
In 2001, Dottie took a hiatus and wrote a book about her experiences in a haunted flower shop in a small town where the heroin uncovers a scandalous affair with the help of a ghost. It is called Succubi the Five Points by Mckenzie Moss.
After the hiatus, Dottie went back to her passion of weddings and flower arranging, which brought her to her current location where she designs fantastic flower arrangements for weddings, parties, funerals, events, etc. There is a style to her work that is recognized by everyone in El Dorado County.
